Description

A slightly less well known variety of Lychnis with white flowers It makes a useful Cottage Garden Plant and is a good contrast to the more common red variety. Its compact white flowers that are a similar shape to the Maltese Cross are born throughout the Summer. A very worthwhile plant for any Border.

Cultivation

Sow the seeds either directly where they are to grow from July - Sept. or in a coldframe in trays.
Cover the seeds lightly with either soil or compost to a depth of 2mm.
For soil sown seed thin the seedlings the following spring if necessary.
For Seeds sown in trays / pots place the trays inside a propagator/polythene bag and maintain a temp of approx 15 - 21 deg C until germination has occurred.
Germination should take place within 3 - 5 weeks.
Once large enough to handle transplant into 3 " pots ( we have these available in our shop ) and gradually acclimatise to outside conditions.
Finally plant out the following Spring approx 12" apart
