Kniphofia uvaria - Red Hot poker
Description
An excellent variety of Red Hot Pokers that produces early flowers on robust stems. The plant will reach a height of appx 3 feet and flowers from late June - Sept.
Cultivation
Sow the seeds in April and cover to appx 0.5 cm in 3" pots within a cold frame. A min temp of 65 deg F is preferable.
DO NOT EXCLUDE LIGHT as this helps germination which should take 2 - 3 weeks
When all risk of frost has passed plant out the plants at approx 3' apart.
These plants will not require very much care. A little fertiliser every know and then and occasional watering will be ample.
