Description
An unusual plant that produces nodding purple flowers on tall stems from July to October in its first year and then from May onwards in the next years. Mainly used for bedding but also makes a stunning plant in a mixed border. Eventual height 24 "
Cultivation
Sow the seeds from March to April or for overwintering August - September.
Sow in trays of a good seed compost and keep moist but not waterlogged appx 1.5 mm deep.
Place tray in a plastic bag (allow the tray to drain first ) until seeds start to germinate which can take between 5 and 30 days at a constant temp of 21 deg C
The seed can also be direct sown where they are to grow in in late spring at a depth of appx 3mm on a soil with a fine tilth
This if necessary to between 12 and 18 inches.
The plants prefer a position in full sun and a well drained soil.
